Ardrossan man Alex Brown is celebrating his first NHBC award in recognition of his quality of work as a Site Manager for renowned Scottish house builder Mactaggart & Mickel.
Alex was recently awarded a National House Building Council (NHBC) 'Pride in the Job' Quality Award for Mactaggart & Mickel's Meadow Rise development in Newton Mearns - a fitting tribute for a man who is set to retire next year having clocked up more than 35 years experience with the company.
The NHBC awards, which have been running for more than 20 years, are the highest accolades in the house-building industry and set out to identify top Site Managers in the UK, of which only 30 receive a Quality Award.
Alex started with Mactaggart & Mickel in 1966 as a joiner, but quickly progressed to Site Manager - a role he has carried out at several of the company's developments over 33 years, including The Dell, Castlefarm and Meadow Rise in Newton Mearns.
The NHBC Quality Award is an acknowledgement to the work undertaken by Alex at the company's Meadow Rise development. This impressive development is situated off Crookfur Road in Newton Mearns and offers a mix of 57 two and three-bedroom terraced villas, one-bedroom flats with garage and two-bedroom flats. Prices start at £86,035.
Only 11 properties currently remain as this is a much sought after residential area, which has excellent local amenities being so close to The Avenue Shopping Centre, restaurants, bars, local schools, and has excellent road access to Glasgow city centre and Ayrshire via the M77.
On winning the award Alex said: " These awards are given in recognition of the quality of workmanship and progress made at a development. I was delighted to win, but must stress that the completion of a successful development is not done so single-handedly but relies of the skill and dedication of a whole team working together."
Married to wife Mae with a grown-up son, who runs a successful jewellery business - Sienna - in Troon, Alex is looking forward to future developments of an all-together different kind. When he retires next year Alex, who is used to being busy, is looking forward to spending more time in his garden, as well as pursuing his interest in antiques.
Showhomes are open Thursday to Monday, 11am to 5pm.
