Paddy Malone – Site Manager, Castle Square
About the Site ManagerIf the NHBC awards are the Oscars of the housing industry – then Mactaggart & Mickel’s Site Manager Paddy Malone clearly deserves the Lifetime Achievement Honour – having won his fourth NHBC Award in three years!
Paddy, 43, from Ayrshire won the top accolade in the building trade last November, the NHBC Supreme Award (Medium Build Category) for the UK, for the Company’s Castle Square development in Greenan, Ayrshire. He also achieved the NHBC Best Site in Scotland (Medium Category) for this development. Again, Paddy’s commitment at Castle Square has secured his latest NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ Quality award.
A long serving member of staff with more than 26 years at Mactaggart & Mickel, Paddy first won a ‘Pride in the Job’ Quality award in 1999 for the company’s Barassie Links development in Troon and a year later he achieved this at Montfode Estate, Ardrossan – he also secured a Seal of Excellence for this site.
Paddy said: “ I can’t quite believe that I have won an NHBC award again. Last year when I won I said the NHBC nominations and awards are a reflection of the commitment of a whole team, not just one person – and I cannot stress this enough. I raise my hard hat to all my colleagues at Castle Square and congratulate them on their achievement.”
Married to Moira, with two grown up children, Paddy and his wife live at Mactaggart & Mickel’s Castle View development in Greenan. The Site Manager started with the company aged only 17 as an apprentice joiner before being promoted to Site Manager 14 years ago – a role he currently carries out at the company’s The Grange development at Perceton near Irvine.
