Andrew Mickel Director

Andrew Mickel

A fourth-generation family member, Andrew Mickel joined the company in 2000 and has been instrumental in the company’s move into new arenas.

Having worked in commercial and residential consultancy in London, Andrew now works with the CBI Scotland's Planning Group and is an advisor to Planning Aid for Scotland, a voluntary organisation offering planning advice.

He is a former chairman of Homes for Scotland. Father to young twins, he is also a Director for the Townhead Village Hall Project, which plans to develop a £3m community hall in Glasgow and is a Partnership Board Director of the Central Scotland Green Network.

Craig Ormond Land Manager

Craig Ormond

Craig has worked in the planning and development industry for the last 8 years and joined Mactaggart & Mickel in 2007. As a Land Manager he is involved in a wide range of residential, commercial and mixed use projects. Within his role he takes responsibility for site evaluation and appraisal, and requires to be up to date with the current planning process. His role involves identifying and acquiring short to medium term opportunities, liasing with tenants, negotiating leases and securing planning permissions and liaison with relevant authorities, residents and representative bodies.

Craig is recently married and his wife makes sure that their social diary is constantly full. He enjoys a round of golf however the closest he will come to playing in the British Open is the Bollinger Tent.

Ken Hopkins Strategic Land Manager

Ken Hopkins

With thirty years of experience in the house building industry and with twenty of those in strategic land and planning, Ken has been involved in promoting development for all land uses thought out Scotland and indeed the UK.

Ken joined Mactaggart & Mickel in 2007 to manage the company’s existing strategic projects and to secure further medium to longer term residential development opportunities for the company throughout Scotland and the English regions. Married with two children, Ken is a keen fly fisherman and often ruins a perfectly good day with a round of golf.

David Jewell

David Jewell

The longest serving member of the current land team, David joined the company in 2001 and has progressed through the ranks to his current senior position. A qualified chartered town planner, he is responsible for the promotion and management of existing land through the planning system. With an eye on the detail, securing the necessary residential allocations in Development Plans and delivering planning and other statutory consents forms part of everyday activities. David also heads up the Design Department within the company and ensures that projects are delivered.

David is happily married to Donna with two children, Lucy and Connor providing the main focus of outside work activities. Outside interests include playing hockey for Falkirk GHG Hockey Club at a 'reasonable' level and the occasional half marathon.

Liz Farrell

Liz Farrell

Liz joined the land and planning team in 2004 and has seen her role evolve into that of land manager and head of sustainability at Mactaggart & Mickel. In her land and planning role Liz is mainly engaged in managing the existing land bank as well as bringing sites through the planning system. Liz's sustainability role involves making environmental improvements across the business with a focus on our house types. Her biggest success to date is the launch of a 'Code 4' eco-home at Balgarth, Ayr for which Liz won a Homes for Scotland people award in May 2009.
