Carrongrove

  • Overview
  • Community Consultation

Mactaggart & Mickel’s Carrongrove site is a former paper mill which closed in early 2007. The site measures 33 acres and is located to the west of Denny, Stirlingshire, on the banks of the River Carron. The demolition of the former mill buildings took over a year and was completed in October 2009.

We are in the process of securing planning permission from Falkirk Council for a total of 180 homes with 27 of these affordable and 7000 sq ft of business/retail space. The residential units will comprise a mix of detached and semi detached family units as well and as two storey terraces and three storey flatted blocks. The houses all have private rear gardens with communal areas around the flats.

In addition the B Listed Carrongrove House will be sympathetically converted from its existing office use into 6 high quality residential flats.

For more information on Carrongrove please contact Craig Ormond at craig.ormond@macmic.co.uk

Mactaggart & Mickel’s proposals will redevelop a vacant brownfield site and will benefit the local community by providing:

  • Range of housing mix and tenure to meet the local need.

  • A fish pass for salmon travelling up the River Carron.

  • Infrastructure upgrades required to service the site including a new roundabout at the site entrance.

  • A new community play facility.

  • A future for the B Listed Carrongrove House.

Wherever Mactaggart & Mickel build homes, we always set out to be sympathetic to the location and the history of the area, Carrongrove is no exception. Community involvement and engagement is important to ensure that local opinions are taken into account. We held a community event prior to preparing our development proposals for the site and distributed consultation leaflets. A public exhibition took place in the local community centre to listen to the local views.

In addition we organised a community event to celebrate the demolition of the site. The winner of our charity raffle got to push the button which blew up the last remaining structure on the site, a 60ft chimney.
