
Mactaggart & Mickel Homes led evidence at the Falkirk Local Plan Inquiry in 2009 seeking to secure residential development and ancillary uses on a site at Glasgow Road Dennyloanhead for 550 new houses.
Whilst the Falkirk Finalised Draft Local Plan had recognised the potential of a smaller area of the site for housing in the longer term, Mactaggart & Mickel Homes persuaded Falkirk Council, via pre-inquiry modifications, that an increased area of land would result in a better fit of the proposed development into its landscape as well as providing additional access options. In terms of timing it was also agreed that the site could come forward as an immediate housing proposal.
An application for Outline Planning Permission was submitted in the summer of 2009 and was approved at committee on the 23rd March 2011 subject to a section 75 agreement.
