Mactaggart & Mickel Homes' Land & Planning team use their leg power to raise £2,065 for Seagull Trust Cruises

In June 2011, members of our Land and Planning team used their leg power to successfully complete a 32 mile sponsored cycle ride from Glasgow to the Falkirk Wheel on behalf of the charity, Seagull Trust Cruises.

On reaching the Falkirk wheel, the Mactaggart & Mickel Homes team presented a cheque for £1,419 to Provost Pat Reid and Sandy Milroy, chairman of Seagull Trust Cruises. Following the event, the team went on to collect further donations and the grand total raised was £2,065.

Seagull Trust Cruises was formed in 1978 and provides free canal cruising to people with special needs. The cruises are considered to be a vital therapeutic activity and many disabled and disadvantaged people benefit from the service every year. The trust operates eight canal boats along Scotland’s historic Lowland Waterways, some of the country’s most beautiful canals, crewed entirely by volunteers. In 2007 the trust was awarded The Queens Award for Voluntary Service, which is the highest award which can be given to a voluntary group.
