Mactaggart & Mickel is currently promoting a major extension to the county town of Taunton in Somerset. The 1,000 acre greenfield site, located in the civil parish of Comeytrowe, was first secured in 2009. Working in collaboration with Bovis Homes and local house builders Summerfield Homes, Mactaggart & Mickel have submitted representatives to Taunton Deane Borough Council promoting the land for development.

An initial phase of 2000 homes has been outlined, which includes the creation of infrastructure upgrades such as the construction of new schools, roads and retail facilities in the area.

Indicative of Mactaggart & Mickel’s long term approach to strategic planning, we intend to individually promote a further 4000-6000 homes in Comeytrowe between 2016 and 2026, with further investment possible in subsequent years.

Our initial outlines for the area include the creation of at least three primary schools and one high school to meet local demand. In addition, an employment park has also been planned for Comeytrowe, providing a base of sustainable growth for Taunton over the next three decades.

Working in collaboration with Taunton Deane Borough Council, local stakeholders and the community, Mactaggart & Mickel expect this urban extension to be under way by 2014.
