What instigated the initial change from traditionally built houses to timber frame?

There are several benefits of building using Timber Frame over traditional methods which we identified which allowed us to alter our building techniques. Using timber from sustainable and managed forests has great environmental benefits ranging from increase tree planting to carbon storage. Timber itself has a natural insulating value and combined with the additional wall space (between studs) we are able to build a highly insulated and good performing product without having to increase the overall thickness of the walls.

We hear that building in timber can reduce the overall build time?

We have reduced our build time by half and with our bathroom pods being installed at the same time we are able to build a completed house in under 10 weeks. The timber kit is fully wind and water tight in one working day which allows follow on trades immediate access to begin their work,

Do you sell your product to people outside of the Mactaggart and Mickel Group?

Absolutely yes! We currently are supplying timber frame for the construction of a Hotel and Restaurant, through a contractor, and are also supplying several main House Builders with structural timber kits as well. Additionally we have designed manufactured and erected kits for one-off builds and smaller extensions. We look at every job on an individual basis and fully discuss their requirement before moving on to a tendering basis.

With the current market very subdued how to expect to keep on growing?

We have been very proactive in diversifying into differing markets in order to grow the business through this tough period. Year on year we have grown our turnover and this year we are looking strong to continue this trend. We believe that customer excellence is the key to a successful business and this is why we take great care in not over stretching our manufacturing plants so that every client is guaranteed our full attention.
