ON Thursday 25th February we were very proud to hand over to Cancer Research UK our grand total of funds raised during our year of charity partnership – a whopping £50,000! This amazing total is more than double our original target of £20,000 and is down to the dedication, effort and imaginative fundraising of our employees, topped up by a contribution from the company itself.
The huge range of activities undertaken by our staff included coffee mornings, knitting sales, cake sales and raffles, right up to The Great Scottish Run half marathon, a Firewalk, 5k races including Race for Life and Pretty Muddy, powering through the Pedal for Scotland circuit and staging a five-a-side football tournament.
The cheque for our final total was presented to Rowan Main, Local Corporate & Community Manager from CRUK at our Castle Grove showhome opening event in Newton Mearns, an event which also served to mark the end of Mactaggart & Mickel’s 90th anniversary celebrations.
Cancer Research UK is the UK’s leading cancer charity, dedicated to funding research into the disease to help with treatment and prevention. Our donation will be put towards funding research into more than 200 types of cancer. CRUK relies overwhelmingly on the public to fund its research and all the funds raised by us will be ring-fenced to be spent in Scotland.
