How does Helping Hands work?

Step 1. You select your Mactaggart & Mickel Homes property.

Step 2. Two estate agents** carry out valuations of your current property approved and paid for by us.

Step 3. A sales price for your current property is agreed.

Step 4. You reserve your new Mactaggart & Mickel home.

Step 5. The Home Report for your current property is paid for and approved by us.

Step 6. Your current property is put on the market and Mactaggart & Mickel Homes help you to manage the sales process.

Step 7. We make our contribution to your sale costs* provided your current property is sold within 10 weeks (or even if unsold provided you have followed the terms of our Helping Hands Plan).
* Our total contribution to your sale costs is plot and site specific.
** One agent will carry out the valuation for properties in the Edinburgh area

Below are some frequently asked questions that should assist in clarifying how the Helping Hands Plan can work for you.
Q1When can I reserve my new Mactaggart & Mickel home?
AYou can reserve your new Mactaggart & Mickel home once the sales price of your current property has been agreed. At this point you pay a £500 non-refundable reservation fee.
Q2Who pays for the estate agency and Home Report fees?
AMactaggart & Mickel Homes will approve and pay for the estate agents fees and the cost of the Home Report for your current property. Our total contribution to your sale costs is plots and site specific.
Q3What happens when I receive an offer for my current property?
AYour acceptance of the offer on your current house will be on the basis that it matches, exceeds or if it falls within 5% below the price.
Q4What happens if I don’t receive an offer on or over the value at the end of the 10 week period?
AIf you don’t receive an offer on or over the agreed sales price of your current property by the end of the 10 week period then your reservation is cancelled.
Q5Will I have any fees to pay if my home does not sell within the 10 weeks?
AMactaggart & Mickel Homes will cover the estate agency and Home Report fees whether or not your home sells within the 10 weeks so long as you have followed the terms of the Helping Hands Plan.
