Health and Safety Policy Statement
 

Established in 1925, Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd constructs award-winning hand crafted homes across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ayrshire. The company has won a host of awards from Considerate Contractors, National House-Building Council (NHBC) for the quality of construction and consideration for its building process. Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd is Scotland's only new homebuilder to win awards for Quality of Build, Good Design and Customer Service.

The Company regards the occupational health and safety of all employees, of any contracted or temporarily engaged employees, and all of the members of the public affected by its operations as being of paramount importance. Concern for health and safety ranks equally with other management responsibilities and business objectives, and is seen to be an indication of the effective working which can contribute to successful business performance.

It seeks to ensure that health and safety risks are minimised throughout the organisation and to enlist the active support of all staff to provide safe and healthy working conditions.

  • The Company’s Health and Safety Policy is the direct responsibility of the CEO and it will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that the Policy remains relevant to the Company.

  • The Health and Safety Manager, appointed by the CEO, has overall responsibility for formulation and development of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Procedures.

  •  The policy is the direct concern of every employee. The Health and Safety Manager has ultimate responsibility for formulation and development of the policy. Responsibility for implementation rests with line management and individual employees.

  •  It is the duty of Management to ensure that all processes and systems of work are designed to take account of health and safety and are properly supervised at all times. To maintain safe and healthy working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment and machinery and ensure safe storage/use of substances.

  • Our primary objective is to seek a progressive improvement in health and safety management performance, to reduce accidents by the systematic identification of hazards, the adequate assessment and control of risk to which employees and others may be exposed, together with the implementation of emergency procedures in case of fire or other significant incident or accident.

  • The Policy will be brought to the attention of all employees and employees will be consulted on implementation of the Policy.

  • Adequate facilities and arrangements will be maintained to enable employees and their representatives to raise issues of health and safety on a day to day basis.

  • The Company is committed to the development of a positive Health and Safety culture and the development and promotion of positive health policies throughout the Company.

  •  We will take steps to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and all relevant statutory provisions. Standards achieved by compliance with legal requirements for health, safety and welfare are regarded as minimum standards.

  • The Company is committed to provide a framework for setting and reviewing Occupational, Health & Safety objectives.

  •  The Company is committed to continual improvement in its safety performance.

  •  This Health & Safety Policy Statement is consistent with Company policies and is available to members of the public and other interested parties on request.

Environmental Policy Statement

The Company takes a responsible interest in the environmental impact of its business activities and aims to contribute to environmental improvement and sustainable development. In all projects with which it is involved, Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd seeks to act in accordance with good practice, preserving and where possible, enhancing the quality of the environment. Where the company is involved in the design or promotion of new projects, it regards their environmental impact as a prime consideration and will work closely with its supply chain and members of the community as appropriate, to develop good environmental practices and solutions.

  • Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd is committed to continual improvement of Company environmental  performance and to prevention of pollution. It will adopt appropriate management systems to fulfil statutory obligations and to ensure liaison and co-operation with appropriate authorities.

  • The Company’s Environmental Policy is the direct responsibility of the CEO and will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that the policy remains relevant to the Company and its stakeholders.

  • The Health & Safety Manager appointed by the CEO has overall responsibility and authority for environmental matters.

  • The Company is committed to ensuring all operations are carried out in compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, corporate directives, codes of practice and appropriate customer specifications.

  • The Company is committed to achieving ISO 14001 registration

  • Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd aims to:

    • Produce environmental action plans with realistic and achievable targets, which are appropriate to business circumstances. It will monitor, review and update these plans annually.

    • Use resources efficiently and take opportunities to minimise waste through re-use and re-cycling.

    • Actively involve employees and those working on behalf of the company, ensure appropriate training is given to raise awareness and provide an appreciation of environmental issues.

  • The policy is the direct concern of all employees and management shall communicate and consult with employees on environmental issues.

  • The Environmental Policy Statement is consistent with corporate policies and is available to members of the public and other interested parties on request.

Anti-Bribery Compliance Policy and Guidelines
 

We do not tolerate, permit, or engage in bribery, corruption, or improper payments of any kind in our business dealings, anywhere in the world, both public officials and people in the private sector. Ethical behaviour is in the long-term interests of the company.

We are committed to the following principles:

  • We will carry out business fairly, honestly and openly.

  • We will not give or offer any money, gift, hospitality or other advantage to any person carrying out a business or public role, or to a third party associated with that person, to get them to do something improper.

  • We will not use intermediaries or contractors for the purpose of committing acts of bribery.

  • We do not allow employees to accept money, gifts, hospitality and other advantages from business associates, actual or potential suppliers, or service providers which are intended to influence a business decision or transaction in some improper way.

  • Any employee found to be in breach of these principles shall face disciplinary action.

  • No employee will suffer demotion, penalty, or other adverse consequences for refusing to pay bribes, even if it may result in Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd. losing business.

  • We will avoid doing business with others who do not commit to doing business without bribery.

  • We are committed to a programme to counter the risk of Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd. being involved in bribery. We have developed and implemented detailed policies and procedures to protect against this.

  • Any concerns relating to a breach of this policy should be reported to the CEO.
