Local Information

Polnoon, our latest development in East Renfrewshire, is located in the historic village of Eaglesham. Eaglesham is a charming rural village with a host of amenities, yet is just ten miles from Glasgow City Centre, and a short drive from Newton Mearns and East Kilbride.

Transport

Railway

There are two train stations close to the development – Thorntonhall on Peel Road and Hairmyres Train Station, both of which run regular services to Glasgow city centre and the surrounding areas.

Bus

The 44 bus route to Glasgow City Centre runs every 20 minutes during the week and every 40 minutes at the weekend. The bus makes several stops in Eaglesham including one at the top of Polnoon Street – just a short walk from the development.

Local Amenities

The local area features a pharmacy, post office, bank, butchers, florist, convenience store and various coffee shops – all within a short walking distance from the development. A number of larger supermarkets are located close by, including Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.

For those looking to take advantage of some retail therapy The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns is a 15 minute drive from Polnoon.

Pubs/Restaurants/Nightlife

Located just a short distance from the Polnoon development are a number of restaurants and pubs including the Peking Village restaurant and The Swan Inn. The charming Eglinton Arms Hotel, which doubles as a wedding venue, features a restaurant and bar that come highly recommended.

Recreation (parks, beaches etc)

There are plenty of recreational facilities to take advantage of in the area including:

  • Eaglesham pavilion and playing fields
  • Fishing at the Picketlaw reservoir
  • An extensive choice of golf courses including Bonnyton and Whitecraigs
  • Local Library

Scenic areas

There are plenty of ways to enjoy the picturesque sites which are close at hand. The area offers miles of trails suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding amongst other outdoor pursuits and beautiful public spaces such as The Orry.
