Troon itself is a highly sought-after destination, with sandy beaches overlooking the Isle of Arran, fine restaurants and bars, boutique shops and of course some of the best golfing facilities in Scotland. Other recreational pursuits available include an indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts and bowling greens.
The town also has ferry services to Northern Ireland and speedy rail links to the rest of Ayrshire and to Glasgow.
Dine in one of the fine hotels or in the renowned restaurants on the harbour, MacCallums oyster Bar or Scotts. Sailing enthusiasts can find a mooring at either the yacht or cruising club, while the more casual ‘sailor’ may take the ferry to Belfast for a short break.
Wander the beaches and take the dog for a walk, you may even see some kite surfers racing across the sands. Bowl, play tennis, swim in the pool, horseride, enjoy some fish and chips and the typical seaside idyll. When the sun shines, just watch the beaches (and the sea) get busy!
