    Halifax Sees “Signs of Life in the Housing Market”

    Figures released this week by the Halifax suggests that in January UK house prices showed their first annual rise since October 2010, rising by 1.3% in January compared with a year earlier.

    For homeowners, particularly those who are looking to move but have been held back by funding and equity problems, this news of slight a pickup in sales and prices is positive, especially when combined with a trend seen in late 2012 of more mortgage availability in the housing market. The driver behind these positive changes in market conditions is widely believed to be the Bank of England’s Funding for Lending scheme which launched in August 2012.
