    "Soaring demand" from house buyers

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), after its latest monthly survey of its members, has expressed concern that the number of available properties is “dwarfed” by demand from buyers, partly due to the government's Help to Buy scheme, which has been taken up by buyers in the thousands.
The boost in activity in the market is a very positive sign, however RICS has warned that in order for the market to function correctly, this imbalance of supply and demand urgently needs to be addressed.
Not enough houses are coming on to the market, meaning the role of housebuilders is more vital than ever in bringing forward new housing stock…. as of November 2013, following very positive year end results, Mactaggart & Mickel had secured forward sales of 100% of our April 2014 target, which opened up the opportunity for an increase in output.
As a result, our building programme has been ramped up and we are opening up new sites at Douglas Gardens, Milngavie, Lover’s Loan, Dollar, and Uplawmoor in East Renfrewshire, in addition to the January 2014 launch of The Village in the New East End, which will provide 700+ new homes in Dalmarnock following the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
