We have many customers who go on to buy their second and even third Mac & Mic home and often several generations of a family have all bought from us. Here are just a few of their thoughts
In January 2017, Adam Black and his wife Rachel moved from Mount Florida to their new 3-bedroom Gigha family home at the Polnoon development in Eaglesham. “We didn’t really think about moving into a new build until we visited Polnoon” said Adam. “We were running out of room in our tenement home and needed a space which was ideal for families and as soon as we entered the property, we fell for it.
So happy are the couple along with their two young boys, Samuel (2) and Toby (10-months), with their property that they have already extended to accommodate a fourth bedroom, adding flexible space for visiting family and friends, or just a quiet room for the four of them.
Adam and Rachel were immediately drawn to the Gigha, a popular 3-bedroom property with generous accommodation space. The couple immediately felt settled in their new home and particularly enjoy the quality of the new build. “Our favourite room is the kitchen and dining room, which has large windows and lets in so much light. The space means we can be in the kitchen preparing dinner and still keep an eye on the boys whilst they play!
The new build ticked all the right boxes for the family, especially the village feel and community support they got from their neighbours. Nothing was too much for their new friends living in the adjourning builds, and they were inundated with help and support after Toby was born.
“It really is a paradise for young children,” said Adam. “The place is set-up for families; Samuel goes to a local playgroup every Friday and is always out with the other children on his scooter, there are play areas dotted across the development and such a great neighbourhood vibe.”
“From day one and moving, we knew we had made a great decision for our family, the customer service and support from Mactaggart & Mickel has been fantastic and the quality of our new home is second to none. We would recommend a new build to anyone thinking about a move.”
Marina and John McLaughlin moved into their four-bed detached property at Braemore Wood, Troon in July 2017 after securing the last available Orkney house type at the development.
When the couple first visited, their chosen property was not yet available for sale, and they did consider choosing a different home at Braemore Wood but decided to hold their nerve in the hope of securing the Orkney that they really wanted.
“Pat at the Sales Centre – and Anne Scott later on - gave us lots of great advice and were so lovely and patient with our endless questions. When the last Orkney houses were about to be released, they were very clear that there were no guarantees and that all interested parties would have the same chance to reserve; we just made sure we checked our emails several times a day so we would be ready when the property was released for sale. I think I got to Troon within 45 minutes of the house being released and 15 minutes after that I’d reserved it!”
The couple had never lived in a new build property before but loved the fact that they could personalise so many of the interior fixtures and fittings exactly to their taste. “Anne was so helpful when it came to choosing things like flooring, worktops and tiles. It was always our decision of course, but her experience was invaluable.
“When we moved in, the place was immaculate, inside and out, and even the lawn was turfed which does not always happen when buying a new build. Every single detail had been taken care of. For example, Mactaggart & Mickel Homes took the time to register the guarantees for all our new appliances. That is the level of customer service you get from them. All we had to do on moving day was place our furniture and unpack.
“This is our dream house in our dream location. We are so glad we made the move!
Edith and Gary Smyth both love the outdoors, as do their 13-year-old son Kenzie and chocolate labrador Alfie, and were keen to stay in or around Howwood, so chose their new home at Midton Fields with its surrounding rolling hills, nearby lochs, and charming village. “All my friends and family know me as a woman who loves the area more than anything, so when I saw the chance to buy a new home right where we wanted it, I didn’t think twice.” said Edith.
Gary and Edith were immediately drawn to the popular 3-bedroom Bryce, as they were keen to give Kenzie a larger room and found the upstairs bedrooms very generous. But it was the quality of the finish which really caught the Smyths’ attention. “I immediately knew that there was something special about Mactaggart & Mickel Homes,” said Edith. “The quality of the finishes is just so impressive . . . it’s one of the first things that friends and family who visit us comment on, before they notice how large and airy the rooms are.”
Once their house was secured, Gary and Edith had the fun task of deciding which textiles and finishes they would like in their new home. “Nothing was too much trouble or too little a question to ask. Susanne, who handled our sale, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and nothing was ever a bother for her – even when we changed our minds a few times on certain items.”
Edith said, “We’re totally in love with our new home. It is beautiful, and peaceful, and extremely well built. We’re so lucky to have found such an exceptional home at our favourite place on earth.”
Adrian and Morag McCreadie moved into their luxurious Kerrera home at Braemore Wood in Troon at the end of June 2017.
Having lived in Glasgow since their university days, Troon won their hearts during a visit to its sandy beaches overlooking the Isle of Arran, fine restaurants and bars and boutique shops.
Realising there was a development of new Mactaggart & Mickel homes nearby, they decided to take a look and fell in love with the Kerrera, a stunning five bedroom, five bathroom villa that offers generous and flexible living space over two floors.
“This is our first new build property and we love the flowing, spacious, open-plan design” said Morag. “I have to say that Mactaggart & Mickel Homes have been fantastic in ensuring that our long wish list for our new home was fulfilled to an exceptionally high standard and in the promised timescales.”
“The whole process of buying and moving in has been so easy. Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ site staff, from Pat and Anne in the sales centre to site managers Charlie and Garry, were always around to help. Everyone in the company really does go the extra mile and the service is exceptional.
“We are living just 30 miles from where we were before but it feels like a totally different place. Braemore Wood has a lovely, tranquil setting and even the weather seems better. The lifestyle here is so much more relaxed than city life.”
“As soon as I drove in to the Greenan Views development it felt like home,” explained Pamela. “I viewed The Hughes show home, a light and bright three bedroom semi-detached home, and knew instantly that it was perfect for my downsizing needs, but still big enough to entertain and have family to stay. The stunning views over Ayr Bay sealed the deal for me and the next day I went back and reserved a home on the spot!
“Buying from Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has been a totally different experience from previous housebuilders. They have one point of contact throughout and it makes the whole process seamless and completely hassle free.
“As soon as I moved in, I felt a real sense of community within the development. Even though there is still building work going on at the development, there is minimal disruption as Mactaggart & Mickel Homes are very careful of your environment and they keep the site really clean. I’d definitely recommend Greenan Views as a place to live. The level of customer service from the sales team through to the construction team is second to none. The team at Mactaggart & Mickel Homes are so warm and welcoming, they feel like family!”
“When we first saw it we thought the development was very well designed in terms of the distance between the houses, their positioning and the size of the gardens which we thought we’d have to compromise on in a new build home. We were immediately taken with the design and flow of the five-bedroom Shuna home. Quality and unique features were important to us, especially coming from an older home that we loved but just didn’t suit our purposes anymore. It was clear that the stamp of quality was all over the development.” The sales care we received in the process of buying our home and after we moved in has been fantastic. Linda made the whole process easy and clear and we really trusted her with our purchase. “Our home offered us excellent value for money in the Milngavie area. The quality of every detail of our home and our interactions with all the team at Douglas Gardens reaffirmed our decision to buy with Mactaggart & Mickel Homes. I’ve already recommended them to my colleague who has since bought her new home at the company’s development in Symington.”
“When we first saw it we thought the development looked lovely. We liked that it had little parks built in throughout the development – it seemed geared up to be quite social.
“We love the whole house but our favourite room has to be the kitchen – we got to choose the tiles and the counter tops and to add little extras like the double oven so it feels like it has our stamp on it. I like to cook to unwind sometimes so it’s great for me.
“We were really happy with the service we received it was really excellent, you could tell they were really on top of things - they made the whole process so easy for us. We would definitely recommend buying with Mactaggart & Mickel to our friends.”
“I’ve always been afraid of buying a house because I thought it was quite a complex process but Mactaggart & Mickel Homes’ sales advisor took the time to explain things to us and reassure us. I knew from that point on, if I bought a house from Mactaggart & Mickel Homes they would be with us every step of the way.”
“The staff worked so hard to make the process as easy as possible and made us feel like we could go to them for advice at any time. I found all my worries and anxiety disappeared and all I felt was excitement!”
