It’s the time of year when thoughts turn to spending quality time with family and friends during the festivities – but of course it’s also a chance for us to give thought to those less fortunate who may have a difficult time ahead of them in the coming weeks.
For a third year Mactaggart & Mickel have taken part in the Spirit Aid CHRISTMAS TOY APPEAL! We have invited contributions of gifts, suitable for children and young people of all ages from new-borns to teenagers, to be donated to our Head Office and distributed by Spirit Aid to families and organisations across the Central Belt of Scotland.
Spirit Aid is a Scottish charity and humanitarian organisation which undertakes a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year, for causes in Scotland and all over the world. Every Christmas, Spirit Aid organises a large-scale collection of toys, food and other supplies to go to children, families and young people throughout Scotland who may be experiencing hardship and difficulty in their lives and for whom the festive season can be a tough time.
An overwhelming number of toy donations were placed under our sparkling Christmas tree at our reception at our Glasgow Head Office, approximately 100 in total including contributions from Head office employees, site and Timber Systems employees, as well as several regular visitors to the office.
All of us at Mactaggart & Mickel are extremely grateful to all those who took the time to choose a gift and donate it – your gesture will really make a difference to children who were perhaps not likely to receive anything at Christmas.
Spirit Aid still have numerous collection points if you would like to make a contribution, or individual collections can also be arranged - further details are available from firstname.lastname@example.org or Tel 07827 211806.
This festive season, did you know that there are so many other ways in which you can make a small gesture to “pay it forward” for some of the most vulnerable and needy members of your community? Why not buy a future hot meal for a homeless person at Social Bite?
Alternatively you could sign up for Age UK’s telephone befriending service – giving up just half an hour a week for a chat with an older person struggling with loneliness can have a hugely positive impact, particularly at Christmas…
Or find out about Paddington’s Parcels - through unicef you can send life-changing presents to
children all over the world to bring them a bit of joy this Christmas.
