Sisterly Love United at Lethington Gardens

A growing family at Mactaggart & Mickel’s popular East Lothian development, where a further phase of 36 new homes will be released, have left the big smoke behind as they found the perfect home to raise their two children. Roisin and Robert Arbuthnot moved into their brand new 5-bedroom Adam home at Lethington Gardens in Haddington in 2019 with their one-year-old daughter Aideen. Having left London, they were keen to find a spacious home that was close to Roisin’s twin sister, Ursula.

Roisin Arbuthnot said:
“We lived in London for six years and had always planned to move back up to Scotland once we started a family. We’d been living in Wallyford while we looked at a number of homes in the Haddington area as my twin sister lives there and we wanted to find a home that had plenty of room while also being close to her.

“We looked at homes from a few different housebuilders in the area but after we saw the Mactaggart & Mickel showhome we knew we didn’t want or need to see any other properties. The quality of the build and the service has been exceptional.”

The couple’s Adam home is one of 69 thoughtfully designed 3- 4- and 5-bedroom family homes at Lethington Gardens in East Lothian where a new primary school is also being built. The first phase saw 33 homes built with 36 in the follow-on phase to be released this month by the fourth-generation family housebuilder.

Roisin continues:
“Both my sister and I have a two-year-old. We have also both recently had our second babies and so we were looking for somewhere to live that was suitable and welcoming for families. Lethington Gardens has a really nice community feel to it and it’s so easy to be able to walk to Haddington high street.”

“We also wanted a home that we could adapt to our changing requirements. Robert worked from home quite a lot even before lockdown, so we needed space for him to do that, but also for a new baby, the pram and everything else that comes with a new addition to the family.”

Robert added:

“We’re in a great location for the bypass too. My head office is in London so it is important to be able to get to Waverley Station or Edinburgh Airport easily.”

Mactaggart & Mickel have been building homes across Scotland since 1925. Their focus on quality has helped them achieve a 5-Star customer satisfaction rating from the Home Builders Federation for eight consecutive years.

Joanne Casey, Director at Mactaggart & Mickel said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Roisin and Robert; and the second Lethington Gardens new baby. We’re looking forward to seeing this community grow in the coming months as we release the next phase of building with a further selection of homes available in October.

“There are a number of great reasons for choosing to buy a new home in East Lothian, like the location, the beautiful countryside and easy access to Edinburgh. We’re so happy Roisin and Robert are enjoying their new home and we’re looking forward to helping others step out into their new homes who have decided they need more space, want a garden or that there home doesn’t offer everything they need.”
