Edith and Gary Smyth both love the outdoors, as do their 13-year-old son Kenzie and chocolate labrador Alfie, and were keen to stay in or around Howwood, so chose their new home at Midton Fields with its surrounding rolling hills, nearby lochs, and charming village. “All my friends and family know me as a woman who loves the area more than anything, so when I saw the chance to buy a new home right where we wanted it, I didn’t think twice.” said Edith.

Gary and Edith were immediately drawn to the popular 3-bedroom Bryce, as they were keen to give Kenzie a larger room and found the upstairs bedrooms very generous. But it was the quality of the finish which really caught the Smyths’ attention. “I immediately knew that there was something special about Mactaggart & Mickel,” said Edith. “The quality of the finishes is just so impressive . . . it’s one of the first things that friends and family who visit us comment on, before they notice how large and airy the rooms are.”

Once their house was secured, Gary and Edith had the fun task of deciding which textiles and finishes they would like in their new home. “Nothing was too much trouble or too little a question to ask. Susanne, who handled our sale, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and nothing was ever a bother for her – even when we changed our minds a few times on certain items.”

Edith said, “We’re totally in love with our new home. It is beautiful, and peaceful, and extremely well built. We’re so lucky to have found such an exceptional home at our favourite place on earth.”
