Mactaggart and Mickel are an award-winning, 4th generation family-owned group of companies based around a core business of building high quality new homes, from contemporary apartments to traditional family villas. Our Contracts, Timber Systems, Commercial Property, Strategic Land and Residential Lettings divisions are well established and attract a wide range of business to the Group, and we have also launched an Investment Fund to diversify outwith the property sector.
Mactaggart & Mickel have been building in Scotland since 1925 and currently have developments underway across central Scotland from East Lothian to Glasgow and the Ayrshire coast. Our Homes division has held a 5 star rating for customer satisfaction from the HBF for 6 consecutive years. In 2018 we launched a Homes England division, with two developments commencing in Oxfordshire.
We hold Investor in People Platinum status and Investors in Young People Silver status and are proud to be an Employer of Choice. We have a clear commitment to learning and development, as well as to our employees’ health and wellbeing. We maintain an apprenticeship programme and have many examples of individuals who began their careers with us and went on to excel in their roles through the company, including our CEO Ed Monaghan, who joined as an apprentice painter aged 16.
We have won many awards over the years for design, quality and customer service and most recently one of our Site Managers won a national award at the prestigious NHBC Health & Safety awards. Our Site Managers also have a long record of achievement at the annual NHBC Pride in the Job Awards. In 2017 we received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village (as part of the City Legacy Consortium).
At Mactaggart & Mickel we firmly believe that our innate ability to do things is well founded in our sound experience and achievements in house building which has patently defied economic uncertainty. Indeed the story of Mactaggart & Mickel is a true testament to the unique combination of innovation and tradition.
