Marina and John McLaughlin moved into their four-bed detached property at Braemore Wood, Troon in July 2017 after securing the last available Orkney house type at the development.
When the couple first visited, their chosen property was not yet available for sale, and they did consider choosing a different home at Braemore Wood but decided to hold their nerve in the hope of securing the Orkney that they really wanted.
“Pat at the Sales Centre – and Anne Scott later on - gave us lots of great advice and were so lovely and patient with our endless questions. When the last Orkney houses were about to be released, they were very clear that there were no guarantees and that all interested parties would have the same chance to reserve; we just made sure we checked our emails several times a day so we would be ready when the property was released for sale. I think I got to Troon within 45 minutes of the house being released and 15 minutes after that I’d reserved it!”
The couple had never lived in a new build property before but loved the fact that they could personalise so many of the interior fixtures and fittings exactly to their taste. “Anne was so helpful when it came to choosing things like flooring, worktops and tiles. It was always our decision of course, but her experience was invaluable.
“When we moved in, the place was immaculate, inside and out, and even the lawn was turfed which does not always happen when buying a new build. Every single detail had been taken care of. For example, Mactaggart & Mickel took the time to register the guarantees for all our new appliances. That is the level of customer service you get from them. All we had to do on moving day was place our furniture and unpack.
“This is our dream house in our dream location. We are so glad we made the move!
