Kirkhill Primary Pupils visit Sandringham Gate

13th November 2022

Mactaggart & Mickel homes has welcomed pupils from Kirkhill Primary School to their exclusive Sandringham Gate development in Newton Mearns.

The pupils that are part of Kirkhill Primary’s Community Group are learning about what is going on in their area and the effect it has on their community. The Mactaggart & Mickel team were thrilled to welcome a bus full of pupils on Wednesday the 9th of November.

Located on a prime residential site in Newton Mearns, Sandringham Gate was built on land that has been owned by Mactaggart & Mickel for the last 30 years. The award-winning house builders have a strong reputation and ties in the area, where they have been building homes since the 1930s.

The pupils enjoyed a tour of the development comprising five Spence, five Mackintosh and two Lorimer homes – all five-bedroom homes. They also took a tour of a showhome and learned about Mactaggart & Mickel luxury housing for a variety of areas in Scotland.

Karen Bradley, Health and Safety Manager at Mactaggart & Mickel, said:

“The children were eager to learn more about how we support the people who buy our homes. They were pleased to learn that as we continue to build developments, the need for shops and other local businesses increases, as was the case in Newton Mearns. We also touched on other topics such as jobs in the construction industry that they could do when they grow up. They were interested in house prices, house configuration, the size of the garage and they couldn’t believe how many bathrooms some of our properties had!”

Joanne Casey, Director at Mactaggart & Mickel, said:

“We’re so pleased to hear that the children of Kirkhill Primary School had an insightful visit to our Sandringham Gate development. We’re always eager to educate the generation of tomorrow on our work and the impact building homes has on wider communities. Of course, we also hope to give them the fuel they need to aspire to their own career in architecture, building, interior design or any other field within the home building industry.”
