Few homes can challenge the five bedroom Mackintosh, a true spectacle of luscious comfort and modern living spread across three floors. The sheer number of rooms and volume of space on offer alone is impressive but combined with the wonderful architecture of the building and the thoughtfully considered layout, your living experience is elevated to whole new level. The show house gives you a taste of what life could be like in this almost 4000 sq. ft. home, with its ground floor gym area, four reception rooms, and two en-suite bedrooms.

As you approach this grand five bedroom home in the Glasgow suburb of Newton Mearns, it is impressive and aspirational, but also has a softness that makes it still feel homely and inviting. Spread over three floors, we can see the garage on the lower floor, above which sits a balcony seating area accessed via the main lounge. The windows complement the building design, with the placement of windows across all three floors giving a bright and attractive façade to the home.

Entering the ground floor level, there is a spacious foyer area. For those keen on entertaining there is room to welcome large groups of guests. There are two large cupboards ideal for coat and bag storage. In the show home, we have oak herringbone flooring flowing through the hallway and some comfortable seating. The stairway immediately ahead has been carpeted with the exception of the two curtail steps which are a beautiful, exposed wood matching the banister and skirting.

The first of the entertaining rooms can be found off the hallway. Listed on the floor plan as a games room, you could set this area up to be anything you desire. Our show home features large couches with a guitar perched against the edge of the seat, and a table set up for a game of chess. There’s also a large window filling the room with light, and lampshades give a warmth that make this area feel like an enjoyable place to cosy up and expressing one’s self.

Moving to the next room on this floor, we find what can only be described as the dream home gym setup. With a full workout bench, treadmill, exercise bike and dumbbell stack, you can safely cancel the membership to your local gym and use this as your new base of operations. Remarkably, there’s still plenty of room to lay down a mat and do yoga, if you’re feeling like taking things a bit easier, and some large wall mirrors have been added so you can focus on your form.

Perhaps then, the next room we come to is a great accompaniment to the gym area. We have a large bathroom with shower cubicle, ideal for that post workout cooldown. Featuring full height sand coloured tiling around the shower, and half height on the rest of the walls, it has a feeling of quality craftsmanship. The floating sink is also a stylish choice, with a wood grain modular unit underneath, ideal for storing toiletries. There’s also a storage cupboard for towels and robes, and a chrome towel warmer to keep them toasty.

Ascending the staircase to the first floor, we find the main living area. The open plan kitchen and sunroom area is staggeringly attractive and will be a space you appreciate every time you enter it. There is a long kitchen island running down the centre of the kitchen, with a breakfast bar on one side, and induction hob on the other, set into a sleek marble worktop. Behind this sits a full height wall of cupboards, with two ovens integrated into the space. On the back wall there are a symmetrical set of units which frame the kitchen window, with the sink sat below. The area exudes elegance and is highlighted even further by its position adjacent to the open plan sunroom, which provides a panoramic view to the garden. Providing even more storage is a utility room off the kitchen area.

The sunroom feels warm, with a large area rug covering most of the flooring, and floor to ceiling curtains graciously hang from each corner. The seating is ornately arranged with a large sofa to the back, and an armchair either side of the entrance. The floral pattern throw pillows are in sync with the large plant taking centre stage in the middle of the sunroom, perched upon a pedestal table. A sliding glass door provides access to a decking area outside, finished with smoothly finished grey wood. There is some complimentary patio furniture to match the decking that is ideal for soaking up the warm weather, and a large grassy garden with a flowerbed to the rear.

Moving back inside, there is formal dining room off the other side of the kitchen. You have the flexibility of keeping this room open plan with the kitchen or closing off the glass panel doors to separate the two spaces. The dining area is also open plan with the lounge and can be closed off in the same way. The walls are a relaxing latte colour, and the floor is a plush carpet. It is a bright space with beautiful views across the patio and garden via French doors. The table is set with gold cutlery, dining chairs, and a soft armchair at each side, and there is some feature lighting suspended from the ceiling above adding to the atmosphere.

Then we move through to the plush lounge, with a large sofa taking centre stage in the room. Large furniture has been used throughout due to the size of the room, with chunky lampshades, leafy plants and two light fittings in a candelabra style, with modern lampshades used to keep touch with the rest of the room design. This area opens out on to the balcony that is visible from the front of the house. It is a large terrace, with room for a table and chairs to sit and enjoy an intimate moment in the sunshine.

Finally, there is one more reception room on this floor, another great sized room that could be multifunctional. We have decorated it as a more informal lounge area with a television and pulled through themes from some of the other rooms. For example, the armchairs have a black frame and a weave pattern similar to the dining chairs. The lighting is an industrial style, with the floor lamps displaying oversized exposed bulbs, and there is a large window filling the room with light

The last thing to note before heading to the second floor is the hallway on the first floor, which has a gallery area where you can look down towards the front door on the floor below. Handy for waving off your family as they head off to school and work, and a nice feature which makes both areas feel open and spaciou

On the second floor, we find all of the five bedrooms located off the main hallway. Bedroom one is tastefully decorated with a large loveseat sitting at the foot of the bed and sticks to a relaxed and calming colour palette. To the side of the bed, we find a corridor with a fitted wardrobe with dark wood bi-fold doors on either side, and a large mirror. This room also has a very desirable en-suite with a curved bathtub and separate shower cubicle. The marble tiling bears similarity to the kitchen and the sanitaryware looks sleek, with the floating sink unit.

Bedroom two continues to uphold this standard of excellence. The cream carpets and light brown bedding tone well together, and this room provides beautiful views over the back garden. There is also more fitted wardrobe storage and another en-suite with a shower cubicle.

Bedroom three is decorated similarly to bedroom two, but with Japanese style sliding wardrobe doors, and more dark wood furniture. Bedroom four has a more earthy feel, with khaki green walls and throw pillows, and also has fitted wardrobe storage. Lastly, bedroom five opens via double doors, and also works well as an office, as shown by our choice of décor. We have set the room up with a desk, chair, and computer

From top to bottom, the features of this home leave no stone unturned. Everything you could want is present in this home, and with so many reception rooms, the flexibility to adapt it to suit your own preferences is close to being limitless. The design is showstopping and its charm endearing, synonymous with the quality you can expect through our range.
