Mactaggart & Mickel Man Completes the Mountain Challenge
Mactaggart & Mickel was thrilled to support Chris Bryant, a Glasgow based Senior Quantity Surveyors at Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, in his mission to complete the Man Vs Mountain challenge earlier this month.
Chris embarked on the escapade, raising an impressive £1,101.24, with almost 800 others to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK, a longstanding charity partner of Man Vs Mountain, providing vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer.
The 22-mile mountain run which challenges adventurers with over 5000ft of elevation, took place on Saturday the 3rd of September 2022. Racers ascended to the peak of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, before facing the descent into Dinorwic Quarry with several challenging obstacles along the way. Chris finished the race in under seven hours, carrying heavy kit all the way.
So far racers have raised over an incredible £1.6 million for the charity, with Chris’ contribution taking them a step closer to their £2 million goal.
Chris Bryant said: “I’ve raised money for cancer charities for a number of years as I have lost several family members to the disease. This race was a huge challenge for me and the toughest part was definitely The Vertical Kilometre. After descending Snowden and completing around 20 Miles, I had a kilometre of steep climbing at the side of the river. Both legs were suffering with cramp at this point, so it was a painful 20 minutes. It was brilliant to have support from Mactaggart & Mickel and many others across the Springfield group which pushed me along during these tough moments.”
Peter Shepherd, Director at Mactaggart & Mickel, said: “We’re so pleased to support our employees in their adventurous endeavours but particularly when it’s for such a great cause. Chris did exceptionally well to complete the race and to smash his original target of raising £1000. We’re already looking forward to hearing about his next challenge.”
